MSQG Grants


PURPOSE:    The purpose of the Grant Program of the MSQG is to fund grants for education,
research, craftsmanship, or
         documentation that will have a long term impact on preserving the heritage and
furthering the art of quilts and quilt making.
    
AREAS OF AWARDS

·          Committed Periods of Individual Artistic Development of a quilt maker who has shown
promise of contribution to the art of quilt making but may not have received national
recognition or be of the status to apply for national grants.

·          Original research: historical documentation of quilts and quilt makers, social history
related to     
quilts and other sociological and anthropological
aspects of quilt making including scholarly and artistic analysis of quilts.

·          Community Outreach: which widely disseminated information about quilts and
increases the
visibility and importance of quilts and quilt makers.

·          Assistance to Museums and Other Public Quilt Collections: for cataloging,
documentation,
restoration and other activities to ensure the preservation and accumulation of quilts, and
the distribution of information about quilts to the public, and increasing the visible presence
of quilts in museums and other public institutions.

ELIGIBILITY:  Any individual or group is eligible for a grant with preference made to
members of MSQG of two (2) years.

        Current members of the Grant Committee and members of the Board of Directors are
NOT eligible for  grants. MSQG reserves the right to award all or part of its allocated funds
based on the merit of application(s).  Funds will be distributed to an individual or
groups/institutions without regard to race. color or creed.

APPLICATIONS:  Grant committee members will review and rate applications on a scale
of 0-5 (high) following receipt.

       Applications MUST be RECEIVED at least thirty (30) days prior to each scheduled board
meeting

       (approximately July , November, February, May of the fiscal year that begins July 1 and
ends June 30).

Grant proposals will be acknowledged upon receipt.  Proposals that are not funded will be
returned when the proper mailer and postage is included with the application.
